Section 1
What is NotebookLM?
NotebookLM is an AI-powered research and study assistant developed by Google. It helps you understand complex documents, summarise information, and generate insights based on the sources you provide.
Unlike general AI chatbots, NotebookLM only uses the materials you upload — so its answers are grounded in your actual study content, not the wider internet.
Think of it as a personal tutor that has read all your notes — and can answer questions about them instantly.
Section 2
Why use NotebookLM?
Grounded in your sources
Answers are based only on what you upload, reducing the risk of inaccurate information.
Efficient studying
Quickly summarise long readings, extract key ideas, and review for exams.
Multiple output formats
Generate audio overviews, video summaries, mind maps, and written reports.
Language flexibility
Change the output language to suit your preference.

How to Use the Chat Tab
The Chat tab is where you can interact directly with your uploaded materials. Instead of just reading your notes, you can ask NotebookLM questions and it will find the answers from your sources. Here are some ways to make the most of it:
Ask for Summaries
"Summarise the main arguments in chapter 3."
Clarify Concepts
"Explain the concept of photosynthesis using simple terms."
Find Specific Information
"What are the three causes of global warming mentioned in the text?"
Generate Study Questions
"Create 5 multiple-choice questions based on these notes to test my understanding."
Pro Tip
NotebookLM will provide citations for its answers. Click on the citation numbers to jump directly to the exact paragraph in your original document. This is excellent for verifying facts and deepening your understanding.
